When enrolling an employee into a fixed compensation plan, there is no option to select 'Never' as expiration date as in any other date picking dialogue in D365FO, including enrollment into variable compensation plans.
We see situations where the defaulted date in expiration date (31-12-2154, which should also display as 'Never' instead!) is suddenly cleared - and it makes no sense to the user to enter this date again
