Would like the ability to use Permissions to prevent specific users from deleting Posted Documents.  There is currently no way to be able to do this, users either have full access to a Posted Document or none at all.

Thank you for this suggestion! Currently this is not on our roadmap. We are tracking this idea and if it gathers more votes and comments we will consider it in the future. Best regards, Business Central Team

Why would need any user delete a Posted Document?

Delete a Posted Invoice or Credit Memo is a legal issue and any end user should do it by himself...

By the same rule of three, users should be able to delete g/l, customer o vendor entries as well, and as far as I know, they have never been able to do so until now.

Hi Holly,

Thanks for the recommendation. There is functionality in the product that is similar to what it sounds you are asking for. In the Sales & Receivables Setup page and Purchases & Payables Setup page there is an Allow Document Deletion Before field. Setting a date value in this field specifies if and when posted documents for the series can be deleted. If you enter a date, posted documents with a posting date on or after the date cannot be deleted.

Is that what you are looking for? Do you have recommendations on improving this functionality, or will it work for what you need?

Thank you,

Jared Hall

A permission I'd like to see here is the ability to not allow deletion of posted documents at all.  We've had a few customers freak out about even being able to delete a posted document.

Whole issue of overly permissive broad-brush Permission Sets generally, and our not being able to create / modify them for users in organisations using D365F, is a problem.  (See also ID0002088  'Provide NAV style access to Permission Sets and User Groups in D365F'.)
