It would be helpful to have the ability to define number series with different segments. For instance, rather than just having one incremental number, you might have multiple segments each with a choice or incremental option.
Example:
Job Number: 2020PRIV0001
Three segments exist. The first four digits is the year. The next four characters might be for a private (PRIV) or public (PUBLIC) customer. The last four would be incremental. When selecting a new number, it would be nice to be able to make these selections one by one and then it gives you the next number. Dynamics SL had a flex key maintenance option that would give you this functionality.

While the relationship functionality is a nice feature, that's not exactly the solution for the above problem. If the option to have segments for a number series were available in the above scenario, you could first choose the year, then the private or public designation, then have it auto number the last portion. So it's one number series, but at each segment you could choose the value based on the criteria.
