At the moment, if you post a Production Journal Consumption for a Lot-tracked Item, and the consumed Quantity is greater than Expected Quantity on the respective Prod. Order Component Line, the posting routine splits the resulting Item Ledger Entries into two. One ILE is for the Expected Quantity, and the other is for the remainder of the Prod. Journal Consumption. This split has no operational reason, and is unnecessary. In some industries, e.g. fresh produce, BOM Line Quantities are very approximate, and can often be exceeded by actual postings. Splitting the ILEs makes it difficult to reverse consumption, and generally makes the data more complicated than it has to be.
