The current project budget control means that you must establish budget at the category level for a project and then budget control does not allow the actual s to exceed the budget amount for the given project and category combination. Business have requirements to group categories together or even budget at the project level. For example, a group of categories maybe used to analyze travel spend. A budget for these group of categories should be set rather than the individual category. This type of functionality exists in the Budgeting feature for the General Ledger known as the "Budget group" functionality as part of the Public Sector functionality.

Totally agree. It is very common to budget on an aggregated level. Then the actuals are on the detailed level. Improves the flexibility, as the different occurred costs can consume budget from each others,

Failing the budget grouping just a sub-project to project budget role up would be a good start. projects are extremely neglected MS, mis-understood by "Users" and under utilized by business.

I believe this would benefit also current customer I'm working with as they have a current change request to control budgets at Header level instead of the category or both. Like to hear if any further updates on this roadmap item.
Cheers.
