At present the RFQ process requires participants in the process to be Vendors. If the RFQ process is a market testing process, typically prospect vendors will be invited to quote. This idea is to extend RFQ process to prospect vendors.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future.

This came up at a demonstration I gave yesterday to a procurement group. They want to get bids from vendors they haven't worked with to expand their options. They don't like the idea of creating a bare minimum vendor file as that clutters up the table with vendors they may never do business with. We need a concept like Prospective Vendor that is in the address book but not in the vendor file similar to prospects versus customers on the sales side.

Is this now on your roadmap, as extending this functionality to include prospects makes so much sense.

I tried to vote for this but it does not seem to accept votes. When I pressed the vote button nothing happened .

Most companies don't want their vendor files cluttered with vendors that they never actually used. In AX 2009 we've segregated the vendor file into 'Bid only' vendors and active vendors, filtered the 'Bid only' vendors out and created a small entry screen for purchase staff to set up a prospect vendor with minimal info. Using the prospect vendors (formerly business relations) would make more sense though. I was surprised that this still isn't in D365 FO.
