Currently, if you're using either the Historical or either of the two Average translation methods for a ledger account, while the account may have a zero balance in the accounting currency of the legal entity, MR will still return a non zero translated balance. This is obviously incorrect but Microsoft have advised that MR is working as designed. The issue here is, the design is wrong.

The idea here is to either:

  • Ask Microsoft to change the report engine's logic to always show a zero balance in the translated currency if the accounting currency balance is zero
  • Add an override/setting in the MR application to make this optional
  • Add an override/setting in the report definition to make this optional on a report by report basis
