I would like to propose that the use of the 'Key' and 'Padlock' icons be looked at. I am currently working on a large implementation and these are causing issues:

  • Several of the record types in play are populated via an integration, with just a few fields being editable by users. When deploying Field-Level Security to the majority of fields to prevent editing, the form becomes very cluttered with 'Key' and 'Padlock' icons and looks untidy.

  • I would propose the FLS 'Key' icon be removed completely, as users do not need to know why a field is read-only, only that it is.

  • The read-only 'padlock' icon, when deployed to  number of fields at once, also looks untidy.

  • When FLS makes a field read-only for a user, the field gets both a key and a padlock icon, which I would propose is unnecessary clutter given the simple nature of what's being achieved (i.e.a read-only field).
