It's very common for a client to want to have Dimension X required for all income statement accounts but not for balance sheet accounts or vice versa. That's just one example, but sometimes they have requirements to do it based on if it's an income account vs. expense. Having additional ways to set dim. requirements would be extremely beneficial as it could be setup once and apply for all accounts. In addition to that, any new G/L accounts would automatically be set with those requirements which would help to prevent incorrect postings.


The following fields on the G/L Account Card are where I'd like to be able to set dim. requirements:

  1. Income/Balance
  2. Account Category
  3. Account Subcategory
