It would be useful to be able to block a product variant from being sold at the POS or from the online channel in the case of a product recall or other issue with the product. It seems we are currently only able to block at the product level, which includes all variants. In the meantime, a work around for this is to exclude the product variant from the store's assortment.

Thank you for the product suggestion! We will continue to monitor this idea and the votes to determine if it will be given a position in our backlog.

Additionally, as a possible workaround, we would recommend you to update the assortments definition which allow you to exclude items at a product variant level. This will remove the product variant from being discovered on a product details page as well as not allow customers to "add to cart" from order history as well.

In previous projects, there was a requirement for a product to remain in the assortment and discoverable on e-Commerce but for it to be non-orderable. This applied at both a product master and at the variant level.

For example: A current product master and all variants are in stock and available for sale but a new variant is created and stocked but it's not yet available for purchase, likely because of a restriction set from the OEM.
