In order to support more complex data migration and integration scenario's, i would like to have the option to use a Azure SQL database as data source for importing data via DMF (Data Management Framework).
In the current situation, AzureSQL databases can only be used for export scenarios. The option of using an ODBC connection as a source is also not yet supported/working...

This idea is open for 3 years already.. :) Over time I have learned.
Maybe we would be even better helped, by having connector to Data Lake instead.
I know a data lake export is expected. Import from data lake would make this complete.
The import could just see the lake as blob storage... Shouldn't take 3 years... Right.. :)

This is definitely much needed feature for huge data migration. Ax 2012 was very good in terms of making ODBC connection and pulling data from other source in to the AX. So definitely we would love to have this feature in D365FO

Importing and exporting from SQL Azure is great from integration point of view. Especially when customers don't want direct integration but need to pass it from Staging SQL
