The displayed date with Canadian settings corresponds to the YYYY-MM-DD standard numerical format but as a long date format is displayed, there is an issue and the readily available custom layouts cannot be used because the date format is not a valid date format.
The solution would either be to stick with the numerical format (YYYY-MM-DD in English and DD-MM-YYYY in French) or to display the correct long format on the custom layouts.
The current workaround of using English (United States) settings is not viable for non-English users. The other workaround is to create new layouts by modifying the date format on the fields, which defeats the purpose of having readily available templates that should be easily personalized by key users.

Is there an update for this? It was Planned for Wave 1 this year but doesn't appear to have been delivered?

In the Dutch localisation the date format which is used in the reports is 10 March 2018. Our customers like to see this in 10-03-2048

In France, the annoying thing on reports is the dot after the day.
In standard report, March 10th, 2020 is displayed 10. mars 2020. It is a small, very small thing, but customers complain about this little dot after the Day.
We have to create à layout or sometimes duplicate the report just for that kind of small things.
Please note this problem exists for decades in NAV...

The date format also causes issues with electronic funds transfers (EFT).
