Currently, changing the delivery date at Sales Order header level updates the lines without providing the same control that is available when changing delivery dates at line level. (ShippingDateRequestedHeader, ShippingDateConfirmedHeader)

When a delivery date is changed on a sales line, users can be prompted regarding reservation handling, helping to preserve reservations and markings where appropriate. However, when the delivery date is updated from the order header, this functionality is not available.

Requested enhancement:

• Provide the same "Update delivery date?" / reservation handling prompt when changing delivery dates from the Sales Order header.
• Alternatively, add a parameter that allows administrators to enforce the prompt at header level.
• Ensure that users can retain reservations and markings consistently regardless of whether the date change is performed at line or header level.

Business impact:

• Improves usability and consistency between header-level and line-level updates.
• Reduces the risk of unintentionally removing batch reservations and markings.
• Saves time for users who need to update large orders with many lines.
• Reduces manual effort and potential shipping delays caused by re-reserving inventory.

It is understandable that this functionality is currently not available at header level because a delivery date change at the header typically affects multiple sales lines simultaneously. At line level, the system can prompt the user individually for reservation and marking handling for the specific line being updated.

However, for header-level updates, an enhancement could be implemented by presenting a single confirmation dialog that applies the selected action to all affected lines. For example:

• Keep reservations and markings for all affected lines
• Remove reservations and markings for all affected lines

This approach would provide users with the same level of control available at line level while maintaining the efficiency of updating delivery dates from the order header. It would also align with the expected business process for sales orders containing a large number of lines, where maintaining dates line by line is not practical.
