I suggest to improve the new lifecycle status on released items with some extra toggle functions on the table .

Stopped for sales       Yes/No

Stopped for inventory  Yes/No

Stopped for purchase  Yes/No

When the product lifecycle status is changed the corresponding flags  in the default order settings (all combinations) will be "overwritten"

This will enable full control over the products accesibility in the system. If a new combination is required a new product life cycle code can be created.

We're happy to announce that as part of the Engineering Change Management capabilities comes a more fine-grained control of the processes where a product can be used. Find the new functionality in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/engineering-change-management/product-lifecycle-state-transactions

We implemented it in exactly this way. The advantage for the user is to change it at exactly one place without the need to go through various tables and forms.

Besides the integration with the "Stopped" flags on the Default order settings I think it is a good idea to integrate them also with the date field "Sell start date", "Sell end date" and "Ship start date".

The advantage for this functionality is that the company using this setup will have a unified and easy way of controlling the "flow" of the product.

The users only have to  change the lifecycle status and then the "parameters" will be set according.

Lets take an example:  A product is under development  but is not released yet for sales. The product life cycle code could be "new product". The flags for this product should open for inventory and open for purchase, but closed for sales.

With one easy change of the life cycle code all these parameters are changed, and all knows what going on.

Frank, we already have these options (by site) on the default order settings - so what's the advantage of your suggestion?
