Hello,

from the point of view of the European Data Protection Directive it is necessary to save the IP address of a new newsletter subscriber. The data protection authorities request the IP address for the opt-ins when a company need to prove the correct opt-in. 

This involves the following two use cases:

• IP address from the contact subscribing to our newsletter (clicking the checkbox on the newsletter in a marketing form submission).
• IP address from the contacts subscribed to our newsletter and giving the double opt-in (clicking the “confirmation” button in the Double Opt-in marketing Email).

This function is essential in order to work with the "Customer Insights" product in compliance with the european data protection regulations.
