As Microsoft has introduced the server-side synchronization to sync CRM Activities with Microsoft Exchange without the need of Dynamics CRM for Outlook Addin this is a great new feature while working with mobile devices.

However, there is a pitfall for customers working with appointments to structure their day-to-day work. With server-side synchronization, any appointment synced to Exchange will lead to an invitation request send to any required or optional party of that appointment. As the users often reschedule their appointments or never even want to send any invitation, it would be great to have a chance to Opt-In to that “automatic invitation” feature rather than having them send automatically.

Even just a Boolean flag “do send invitation request on server-side appointment synchronization” would be great!

I thought we do support this if you create an appointment for yourself. However, let me check if we have any way to create appointments and not meeting requests. Thanks for your feedback

crazy that there are so many ideas, focussing on the same issue: Not immediately sending appointment invitations on simply saving the record (for emails this is working - why not appointments?)

This item is almost 10 years old and still not implemented but a well known issue that needs customizing and workarounds all the time for customers.

Pretty sad that this still isnt implemented. Outlook supports options on whether or not to send updates when interfacing with exchange appointments, so why doesnt Dynamics?

I totally agree with this as well. This has been sitting stale for four years, any update on this MS?

This drives our sales reps crazy. They do not want updates sent out when they make a minor change to an appointment, but have no way to stop it.

Totally agree with this request.

Please add options at the organization / user (personal options) / appointment levels to choose whether or not the CRM should automatically send out Outlook invitations

In my current business case, users wish to track appointments with their customers, but not necessarily send out invitations. There is no known workaround, as far as I know (unless they do not synchronize appointments with SSS)

On the contact, we have all kinds of flags, DoNotSendEMail being one of them. Unfortunately, it has no effect. DoNotSendInvitation or even DoNotSendInvitationUpdate would not be bad. Even more odd, there is a Do Not Send Invitation flag on the Appointment, which has no effect whatsoever. The appointment is synched to Outlook (Add-In 2019) WITH all participants. This is not a nice-to-have for our sales organization! We are helping ourselves with dirty hacks and pray they won't backfire one day...
