There is currently a workaround to disable the tab range from Feature Management.

However, from [Ver 10.0.32 April 2023], we are planning to make a mandatory change as described in [https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365-release-plan/2022wave1/finance-operations/finance-operations-crossapp-capabilities/streamlined-tabbing-behavior-full-page-forms].

The "arbitrary choices" should continue to be possible from the point of view of the differential efficiency of the table.
