Personalization option for main menu
In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, we had the option to personalize the main menu. We could change the order and hide certain menus. At least it would be a better experience to be able to change the order of the menus. When users will have many menus visible, a focus on their most common menus would help them being more productive. Hiding menus would be a nice to have. -
Improve security diagnostics for task recordings
Currently, only menu items of type 'Display' are being shown in the form Security Diagnostics for task recordings. It would be better to also show menu item of types 'Output' and 'Action'. -
Friendly User ID pattern when creating users automatically
When a user has been assigned to a product license for Finance and Operations, a user will be automatically created the first time he/she logs in. This is as described in the documentation: "For customers who are on one of the new license types that were added in October 2019, users must be associated with a license. Users who are associated with a license are automatically added as system users who have no roles the first time that they sign in." The user ID has a pattern like '$BC8A'. It is a dollar sign with 4 hexadecimal values; which is meaningless and not user friendly when user IDs are presented on forms. It would be better to have a meaningful user ID. Probably allow a configuration or just take the local-part of an e-mail address. In case of chrisg@contoso.com, the user ID can then be 'chrisg'. -
Warning about existing batch jobs when deleting a user
Currently when deleting a user from the application, it will cascade delete related batch jobs for this user. It would be an idea to have a warning or question what to do with these batch before deleting the user and nobody was warned about missing critical batch jobs. -
Have the option to specify an active period when creating a batch job from a periodic task or report to be run in the background
Recently, a new feature for batch jobs was added called 'Active periods for batch jobs'. Currently, the only way of maintaining the active period on a batch is via the batch job form. It would be very helpful to have the active period available on the dialog when creating a new recurring batch job from a periodic task or run a report in the background. This will save the user from having to navigate to the batch job form separately. -
Create data entity for Automatic role assignment rules
It would be helpful to have an out of the box data entity for the Automatic role assignment rules. This is not supported out of the box. As there is a blob field used to store the query for the rule, it would be not possible to have this entity set to public. It should be possible to use it with the Data Management Framework. -
My positions view on ESS workspace
Currently, an employee has no visibility of his own position assignments and the position history. It would be great to have 'My positions' available on the ESS workspace. -
Add a document attachment entity
Currently, there is no data entity available for document attachments in Dynamics 365 Human Resources. A quite common requirement is to upload documents when migrating to Dynamics 365 HR. -
Time lookup component for form controls
Together with the release of the new advanced grid control, there seems to be a time lookup component implemented. This is e.g. visible on the 'Active periods for batch jobs' form. It would be nice if the same time lookup will be available for non-grid form time controls. -
Have available startup pages in user options configurable or extensible
It would be a great improvement if we can extend or have the startup pages in the user options configurable so that end-users would be able to select more options than choosing between the limited number of 6 options available today.
I shared a possible example as a solution on my blog: https://dynamicspedia.com/2022/05/configure-your-workspace-of-choice-as-startup-page-functional/
