Public Profile
  • Profile configuration in Business Central

In NAV, it was possible to configure profiles by making use of configuration mode. This way, you can change the lay-out of pages for each group of users, such as bookkeepers, warehouse workers… That way they only see the buttons and columns most relevant to them. In Business Central, there doesn't seem to be a configuration mode. We were wondering what the best way is in Business Central to customize profiles so that a group of users have the same personalization. It is only possible to change the lay-outs of pages for all users (using Designer modus) or for one user (using Personalisation modus). It is not efficient to change the designs of hundreds of pages user by user! Are we the only partner who finds this a huge problem?

  • Add "Payment Terms Code", "Payment Method Code", "Salesperson Code" as "splitting parameters" in "Combine shipments"

Report 295, Combine Shipments, combines all shipments into one sales invoice. A new sales invoice is created when the "bill-to", "sell-to", "currency code", "EU 3-party trade" or "dimension set ID" changes between sales orders. These are already good parameters to split the sales invoices, but it is better if this list is extended by "Payment Terms Code", "Payment Method Code", "Salesperson Code". Since these fields are also header fields on sales orders and invoices. In the current solution the "Payment Terms Code", "Payment Method Code", "Salesperson Code" on the sales invoice is taken from the customer card. So if you change a value for one of these fields on the sales order, this will not be copied to the sales invoice and this info is lost. I already discovered that the Italian localization of Business Central does have these splitting parameters but the worldwide and Belgian version does not.
  • Make it possible to indicate a custom report for the layout of approval e-mail notifications (instead of Report 1320, Notification Email)

In the documentation of Microsoft concerning notifications, for example these of a requested approval, (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/across-how-to-specify-when-and-how-to-receive-notifications) the next information is given: "You can define the layout of email notifications by customizing Report 1320, Notification Email.". Although this was a good solution in NAV, this does not work anymore in BusinessCentral. Because of the introduction of extensions, a standard report (f.e. 1320) can not be changed / supplemented anymore. The only possibility is to copy this standard report to the custom repot range (f.e. 50000) and add the necessary elements (f.e. information regarding the vendor of the purchase order to approve). Therefore we want to launch the idea to have some kind of parameter to indicate the report to be used for the notification layout (so that you can change this from 1320 to f.e. 50000). Just like you can already do with all sales, purchase and warehouse documents.
  • Option to e-mail 2 SALES INVOICES OF SAME CUSTOMER IN 2 SEPERATE E-MAILS

Our client stumbled upon the following problem: When selecting 2 posted invoices of the same customer for e-mailing, only one e-mail is created with * the text in the body duplicated --> This is not a professional e-mail towards the endcustomer. * one PDF with both invoices --> The customer who receives the e-mail can quickly make the mistake of not seeing the second invoice in the PDF. But I can believe that there are also customers that are pleased with the current BC solution (one PDF and one e-mail combined) to avoid spamming. Therefore some kind of boolean (f.e. on customer document lay-outs table) could be useful to indicate if he wants to receive • One e-mail / PDF per invoice selected • Combined e-mail / PDF with all selected invoices
