• 'Users can turn off filter' on a 'Related Records Filtering' lookup field property when only one View is Available

On an Entity UCI form, there is field (lookup in Contacts) that is filtered based another field (lookup in Account) and we have only one view 'All X-type Contacts' (x-type is a filter criteria in the view) as available in View Selector/Default View, with just Account's related Contacts. So, the Contact lookup field filters Contacts data linked to the Account previously selected in the Account lookup field. In case a User must include another Contact (from 'All X-type Contacts' View), that's not related with the selected Account, based on a business need of our client we have done the following configuration: In the form field’s properties Customization, ‘Users can turn off filter’ is set to True. But, when using the lookup in the UCI (unified client interface) form, the ‘change view’ is available only on the first load form. Clicking the 'change view', you can proceed and then uncheck ‘filtered by related: Company’. But when this is used just once, 'change view' option then disappears, resulting in a lookup control screen without all 'change view' options available, and from now the User cannot redo the ‘filtered by related: Company’ check inside the 'change view' pop-up. If you do a form/web browser refresh you can re-apply the 'change view' for a 'first time use' and if you use it, it's again disappered, and again you lose the functionality. In the classic UI you could always pick ‘Lookup up more records’ and then remove ‘Filter by related Accounts’. This was un-related with the Selected Views available inside the control. So, this feature was somehow available in the classic UI and now the option of un-filtering is available only for the first ‘change view’ click and then it’s gone, something really seems like a malfunction/defect and far from a stable and solid lookup user-friendly lookup behaviour. We've opened a related ticket and Microsoft's answer is: "the behavior is by design that whenever there is only one view selected on the “View Selector” in the field properties , the change view wouldn’t be shown on the UI when you uncheck the “Filter by Related: ” and select the default view , as it has no other view to show as default view is already chosen." This does not answer the question why 'change view' is shown in the first place, or why it is hidden in the second time or nevertheless why not the un-filtering checkbox can't be ‘UI independent’ of the ‘change view’ option. Only alternative solution is to add one more 'dummy' View in the lookup's property selection, and I say 'dummy' since there is no other actual need for a second duplicated View with the exact same fields and filters. We are unhappy and we believe that this is a bad design. Please vote for the lookup control to be re-designed in a better way.
