  • CRM 2011 Connector Crashes Outlook All Day Long

Can't believe nobody's posted this yet. I just searched for the word 'crash' and found only two references to Outlook, with only 1 vote each. Maybe this is unique to our environment so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. But I haven't found one yet so I'm posting here.

We're running a combination of Office 2007/2010 on Windows 7 SP1 x64 systems. The Outlook clients all worked fine, with or without the CRM 4 clients. Then after upgrading to CRM 2011/RU5, we've had nothing but complaints from users who have their Outlook sessions crash at various times throughout the day, without any apparent pattern of usage to begin to isolate the problems.

All we get in the event logs are Outlook app crash errors, event ID 1000 - nothing specific. As soon as we remove the CRM client, no more crashing.

It's pretty important that this work without crashing the client all day - it's deterring users from wanting to use the product.

  • BUG: Service Activities in Service Calendar show old owner after re-assignment for about 15 minutes

Seems to be a new problem post-rollup 7. We've noticed that after re-assigning a SA from User A to User B, we end up with 2 copies in the Service Calendar showing the original for User A, and the correct SA for User B, and they stay there for about 15 minutes.

Whether we hit the refresh button on the page, or the browser refresh makes no difference. When we open the SA and review audit history, it correctly shows re-assignment. But CRM 2011 will continue to show both the current and prior owner in the Service Calendar for about 15 minutes unless we create a new overlapping SA for User A.

  • After rollup 12, service calendar does not show arrived status correctly

after we applied RU12, the SC continues to show calendar status colors incorrectly as reserved. we have to change to tentative, save, change back to arrived, save, then refresh calendar.

before 2011, the calendar auto-refreshed too. we've also made MS aware of that and they have ignored that. 2011 added a lot of cool stuff but it completely broke the SC and MS has failed to address these problems for well over a year, flatly ignoring them. not good.

  • After application of UR12, Notes now show new owner / modified by instead of how it has worked previously (ANOTHER BUG)

yet another nasty surprise after the application of UR12 (don't do it!) - now we find that MS has arbitrarilly chosen to display the modified by and modified on for the notes section instead of what it previously was which was created by and created on.

this is a diversion from how every previous version of CRM has worked, and from how CRM 2011 has worked. This worked just fine prior to UR12, and nobody asked MS to change it without at LEAST giving users the CHOICE in controlling this, and leaving the default setting as it was. In fact in the past it used to display both the created and the modified info so I cant understand why anyone should ask for the created info to be removed.

If something works why did MS need to break it?!

Here is supporting documentation - MS obviously is not listening:

The CRM Team really dropped the ball once again with this update, I don't know what happened over there but maybe getting a new boss was the wrong direction for them to go.
