  • Augment credit note functionality for project accounting to include credit for rebill

Often, project invoices are required to be credited with the intent to rebill underlying project transactions. The correcting invoice(s) may be split up to meet customer requirements or amounts may be adjusted.

Credit notes add credit transactions to the affected projects but there is no provision to insert duplicate transaction lines included on the original invoice or otherwise reset those lines to be available for invoice proposals.

The credit for rebill process would create a credit note to reverse the original invoice to adjust accounts receivable with a summary offset entry to each project affected. It would then reset status for those transactions included on the invoice to make them available for invoice proposal. A new journal may be required to provide an audit trail documenting the updated transactions by credit/rebill voucher, original invoice number and credit-note number.
