Currently within D365 there are defined processes for generating global emails on:
* Missing Time Sheets
* Un-submitted Expenses
However, you cannot generate global emails for incomplete work-items. It would be beneficial to generate email reminders to users that have outstanding work-items by work-item type and status. This would ensure users are prompted to efficiently complete workflow within a suitable time-frame.
This would remove reliance on workflow configuration to generate email reminders that can only be produced at line or report level.
Ideally you should have the option to generate a reminder by the following options:
* Per Item
* Summary Per Item Type
* Summary All Items
* Batch Process
* Ability to edit email message
* Ability to group records and provide a count of outstanding items

Currently you can only generate email notifications by workflow at a line or report level. The user should have the ability to define (via user preferences) that they wish to receive a summary notification daily/weekly.
In selecting this option the system would only send a single email notification summarising all workflow generated messages to indicate outstanding work items for completion. This should be supported by a batch process defined per legal entity to allow for regional time variations.
Obvious benefit in removing clutter from users mailboxes and defining intervals that batch process generates notifications.
Configuration aspects to consider:
* Ability to define batch job by work item type
* Legal entity
* Standard scheduling and frequency
* Define message

To speed up the user experience it would be useful when creating timecards that the time period defaults to the next open period (by user) where no timecards have been created. This would speed up user entry and improve the end user experience.
To support this functionality it would be beneficial to include the following parameter settings:
* Automatically default time periods to next open period (Yes/No). No = Today's date
* Include/Exclude un-submitted draft reports in calculating next time period

If workflow is configured at line item it is possible for a user to remove/delete an item whilst submitted to workflow, creating an orphaned row with no detail.. This ultimately stops the document status from updating as all line item workflows will not complete.
Create a batch process that removes any orphaned workflow lines allowing document status to update.

Currently, Microsoft only supports open work items by two distinct views "My items" and "Items assigned to Queue" - Create a new view of all open Work Item to allow global administration of open items.
Defined processes exists for missing timesheets, unsubmitted expenses but no process for incomplete work items (which can contain approvals). Expose queue so a central admin team can coordinate and investigate open work items.

Currently expense policies exist for user submission and approval, can the functionality be extended to include the finance PROCESSING stage? This would support setting policies for the FINANCE or EXPENSE MANAGEMENT team to control posting (or incomplete data).
Specific instances where this would add benefit:
Provide messaging on expense types (to ensure compliance for data submission)
Flag issues with data submitted when not complete

Currently when designing a policy within expense management you have the following conditional statements:
Equal to / Not Equal to
Grater than / Greater than or equal to
less than / less than or equal to
I would suggest add an addition two criteria:
ISBLANK
ISNOTBLANK
This would allow policies to support the accurate completion of data by expense type and simple messaging that can be distributed to the end user - Without enforcing mandatory fields!

Currently in D365, options are limited when trying to process an expense charge that could have multiple VAT/Tax rates.... The only current way is to configure itemisation and you can then define an Item tax Group for each sub-category - This places the burden on claimant to enter the data correctly and they may not have the knowledge on the correct tax treatment.
I would like to see the functionality created to allow the PROCESSING STAGE to split an expense. creating the ability to allocate Item Tax Groups, internal notes and amount - This would support expenditure types where splits need to be accommodated without the need for itemisation.
Ideally the functionality would be limited to work with the original line item value (avoiding any issue with workflow approval and changes in the approved amount)

In Project management there is a dedicated APP for timesheet submissions and approvals. It would be great to develop an expense app with similar functionality, so users can capture receipts, create expenses on the go and upload when connected.
The APP should work both online/offline allowing users to easily capture expenditure and create expense claims. Once online any data/receipts captured will automatically be transferred to D365.

The ability to assign period type and calendar should include a date parameter with start date/end date, presently when updating a record you are updating master information.... These date parameters should be used to update the "Period Status" of a resource.
The ability to edit Period-Type should also be extend to the Period Status table, so you can update the period type for any given period for an individual resource.
With the addition of the date parameter functionality such as the missing timesheet report can be expanded to include the date parameters in defining missing timesheets - This will certainly benefit resources that could move between non-chargeable roles and chargeable positions where requirements change for timesheet submission..
