A frequent requirement for business processes is the ability for sales and procurement to search on the sales/purchase order line by an external item number. Customization is required on every implementation to accommodate the client.

There are translations available through the EDI process, however, EDI is not used by many mom & pop shops which submit their orders via email or fax.

The ability to search by a customer's or vendor's external item description offers greater productivity to our clients via increased speed of order entry and minimizing errors.

Likewise, this functionality allows Microsoft clients greater flexibility and efficiency in serving their customers, creating an enhanced user experience for all parties involved.

  • Yes - Well needed!

  • Please add this ability.

  • Completely agree.  I've seen many customers use their product numbers or other numbers like a GTIN or SKU when placing orders. This would really help users easily buy and sell items more efficiently.

  • There had been a rich resource of accessible business logic that was leveraged for EDI and EComm trading partners. The business logic from the Axd Classes should have been migrated to the D365FO as base classes to be tied into the Data Entity framework. YES, Microsoft, the interface IS "infinitely" customizable, but you had the business logic for these transactions already in place. All you needed to do is re-package it into the new DIXF framework. Someone there began this structure with classes like WHSInboundLoadEntityEventHandler . Infinitely customizable is not "Throw out everything and let us reinvent the wheel, when i say US... i mean you". Being able to trigger the code on events is great, but how about a easy to read source of when and how these events fire.. as firing order is important to perform the requisite lookup and data fulfillment on the way from source TO staging, not after...

  • Mostly for trading companies using vendor part number for ordering. Even most of the customer inquiry receiving based on Vendor part no.

  • Yes please! This would allow us to more efficiently serve our customers and speak their language- nothing would be lost in translation.
  • We've made this customisation for several clients too. Its simple enough to do and should defintely be part of the standard product offering.
  • Agreed this option is in almost every other ERP i have worked in and is a required field search. In fact i am confused why in a So/PO and products that every field is not available for searching.
  • I realize this is an old thread, but we are looking for this exact functionality. Surprised it is not in the product yet, or perhaps it is and I just can't find it in the setups.
  • yes.. still needed. would be nice to add via the search criteria for sales.
