Attachments Indicator - In Dynamics 365 for Operations we have lost the lit-up functionality of the paperclip. This is a big loss. Users have no idea whether there are notes or documents attached to transactions.

In Operations we have lost the lit-up functionality of the paperclip. This is a big loss. Users have no idea whether there are notes or documents attached to transactions. We request strongly that something is invented to bring this functionality back like we had it. A color change, or even better, an entirely new picture instead of a paperclip that really draws attention to the user.

Publish personalization as an admin to a group of users or all users

Suggested by Gertjan van der LindenCompleted 4
      Category: User Experience

The personalization options in the application are very strong, limiting the need for customizations while enabling users to simplify their user interface.

A simpler user interface improves the usability and acceptance of the system. It would be great that an administrator (/ consultant) can create the optimal personalization for the forms in use and easily share or deploy this to all users. This limits the need for customizations to hide and change form objects and increases the maintainability.

One of the most heard requests during an implementation is around simplifying these fields. With this option, we can stay away from customizations / code releases and functional designs while quickly helping the new users to adapt to the system.

Possible to Export to Excel more than 10.000 records

      Category: User Experience

We can not export to Excel more than 10.000 records. In previous version, we can transport to data from Ax to Excel how many my Excel 's version can took. It will be very usefull if we can export records to Excel unlimitedly. If exporting to Excel is imposible, even the exporting data to txt (like .csv format) could be helpful for some data analyzing.

Recurring data jobs export empty file with no data

Suggested by Hari Kiran VarreCompleted 4
      Category: Data Management

Data management entity's exports empty files i.e. if no data to export still it exports a blank file.

Problem statement: Assume 30 interfaces (Per legal entity) scheduled to export every minute, which will result in huge export history per hour. i.e. (30 * No of legal entity * 60 minutes) Manually finding 1 execution where exactly the data is exported in next to impossible, space usage on blob and for integrating application like BizTalk directly consuming these messages using Dequeue involves execution cost.

As mentioned above this has issue at two levels especially for Recurring jobs.

      • In the recurring data jobs execution history it is impossible to find the execution with data is next to impossible.

      • Integrating application like BizTalk directly consuming these messages using Dequeue involves execution cost.

Potential solution/design: Having a condition to check if records/record count is greater than 0 will restrict the exporting of empty files. This condition should be controlled by the user. Ex: Like skip staging option on data project there should be another parameter to allow user to choose export a file only if it has data. This way it will be more flexible and suitable for any customer scenarios. This resolution at the core level of API’s will control the flow of the messages with minimal change and simple design to address the above problems.

Exclude test models from final product package

Suggested by Microsoft – Completed 1
      Category: Development

We are using Build machine, created using LCS, to build our solution. Solution consists of several models, one of the model is test model. Example: - HelpModel1 - HelpModel2 - MainModel - MainModelTest When our solution is built on a Build machine, all 4 models from the example above are included into the final package. We do not want to ship our test models to customers, but still keep them as a part of main solution. We need a way to exclude test models from the final package.

Cannot get an approved expense report back to draft status

      ***[AX BUILD] ***

Customer: Application version: Dynamics 365_July2017 (7.2.11792.56024) and Platform version: 7.0.4679.35176 (Update11)

      Internally tested on:

      Application 7.2 (7.2.11792.56024) and Platform: 7.0.4679.35176 (Update 11) <replicated>

      Business Process

      1. Describe in non-technical terms the issue – what is the customer trying to do (business process)

      Business Focused Problem Description

The customer needs to correct an approved expense report with incorrect fields, but it is not possible to edit them.

To edit approved expense report, the function to get an approved expense report back to draft status is very much needed for the customer.

Timesheet has the function to reset workflow status to draft.

Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations > Project management and accounting> Periodic > Timesheets > Reset workflow status

They request us to add the same function to Expense report workflow.

      <Issue Details>

Pre-requisite: Create an expense workflow with Auto approve condition.

      For the first issue:

      1. Create an expense report from Expense management > My expenses > Expense report.

      2. Add a new record.

      3. Enter the details of any expense.

      4. Specify the Project ID on the header level.

      5. Do not specify the details in the Description text.

      6. Enter the transaction date as 10\10\2001 for the expense line.

      7. Save and submit the Expense report.

      8.

      For the second issue:

      1. Create an expense report from Expense management > My expenses > Expense report.

      2. Add a new record.

      3. Enter the details of any expense. Do not specify the Project ID on the header level.

      4. Specify the Project ID on the line level.

      5. Do not specify the details in the Description text.

      6. Save and submit the Expense report.

      For the third issue:

      1. Create an expense report from Expense management > My expenses > Expense report.

      2. Add a new record.

      3. Enter the details of any expense. Do not specify the Project ID on the header level.

      4. Specify the Project ID on the line level.

      5. Save and submit the Expense report.

As the expense report are set for Auto approve, the report gets approved, but it is not possible to edit these fields later, which is very much needed for our records.

      THE ASK :

They request us to add the same function to Expense report workflow.

      Business Impact

      1. What is the business impact to the customer?

There is no way to correct expense reports with incorrect fields on D365fFO. As results, the company cannot pay expenses to their employees correctly.

      1. How does the problem impact their business and how bad is it? (Ability to bill, revenue loss, sales etc).

There is a possibility that the company cannot pay expenses to their employees correctly.

      1. How frequently does this issue occur?

Every time when employees submit expense reports with incorrect fields.

      1. Is there a workaround? If so, is the customer applying the workaround?

No workaround on D365fFO. In previous AX, they were able to rectify these issues on their own using tablebrowser. But on D365fFO they cannot have any option other than to approach Microsoft to ask modify fields.

      1. How many users are affected by this issue?

      All employees

Problem Description: 1. I add a new class to a Dynamics Operations Project (using the version 1611 downloadable developer VM) as Class1 2. I rename the class to Class2 3. In the Pending changes window the added object is still Class1, and Class2 doesnt get added to source control. I manually have to remove Class1 through the Source Control Explorer, and also manually add Class2. Renaming items that were checked in once before works perfectly, the issue only manifests with newly created items

      Product lifecycle status

      Suggested by Henrik LarsenCompleted 2
      Category: Product information management

It would be great if you were able to record a product's life cycle status based on a customer-defined status list. It would be useful, if this information was also able to be used in both the release function and as part of an approval workflow. You should be able to override this status by legal entity to allow a product to be in different life cycle stages depending on market. Ideally, you should be able to associate policies with each life cycle to determine behaviour. This feature is useful across a number of industries including manufacturing, distribution and retail.

      Manual replenishemnt from mobile device

      Suggested by Ronny HeuleCompleted 2
      Category: Warehouse management

An article on a location needs to be manually filled up and AX should create the work for the movement from a pick location, which has stock. The user scans the item and the work is created by the system (defined by work template and location directives).

I tried movement by template but I don't get any proposal for a pick-location with stock. So that’s my problem. The user knows where to put the item, but doesn't get any help from the screen where to pick the item from. As far as I know works the Movement by template the other way round (the user knows where to pick but needs a proposal for the put-location).

Idea: mobile device menu item with work creation process "replenishment"

The user selects the menu item and scans an item. AX creates the repelnishment work as defined in work template and location directive. The user is directed to the picking location by the mobile device.
