In the revenue recognition process for fixed-price projects using the Total forecast – actual method, D365 FO calculates a percentage of completion based on actual cost and forecasted cost. However, the system does not display the exact values used in this calculation (i.e., the actual cost and the forecasted cost from the selected forecast model) within the estimate or revenue recognition windows.
This lack of visibility makes it extremely difficult to validate or audit the system’s calculations. As financial professionals, we are trained to “show our work” — and we expect the same from our ERP system, especially when it comes to revenue recognition, which is subject to audit and compliance scrutiny.
Request: Please add a feature that clearly displays the actual cost, forecasted cost, and calculated percentage used in the revenue recognition estimate — either directly in the Amount tab or via a “Calculation Breakdown” button or pane. This would greatly improve transparency, auditability, and user trust in the system’s calculations.
