Business case for Pagination
Request Summary:
We request Microsoft to prioritize the enablement of a native “Last Page” or “Last Records” pagination feature in Dynamics 365 CRM. This capability is crucial for enhancing user efficiency and data accessibility — particularly for large datasets where reviewing or validating the latest entries is a frequent task.
This customer is a key strategic customer of Microsoft and below problem may not sound important to rectify. We believe that the users' consumption licenses will be deeply impacted if the problem below is not addressed in a timely manner.
Business Problem:
Currently, Dynamics 365 CRM lacks a built-in option to navigate directly to the last page of records in a view, sub-grid and Audit History. This becomes a significant limitation for power users, administrators, and support teams who routinely:
• Validate recent data entries (especially in descending order views).
• Audit system-generated records at the tail end.
• Troubleshoot data inconsistencies.
• Confirm imports or integrations.
Without this feature, users must repeatedly click through pages or modify views with filters or sort logic, which is time-consuming and introduces user error or oversight.
Impact on Productivity:
Use Case Example:
In our CRM instance, some entities like Opportunities, Accounts, Audit History, Products contain more than 10,000 records. Users often need to verify the last few records during:
• Debugging
• Testing data load
• Reviewing batch jobs or integrations
Manually clicking “Next” through hundreds of pages results in:
• 5–10 minutes lost per task
• Cumulative productivity loss across users and departments
• Frustration and inefficient workarounds using Excel exports or advanced find
Benefit
Description

Navigate to last records instantly, saving several minutes per user per day.
Improved Accuracy
Reduce human error from excessive manual navigation.
Better Auditing
Easily verify the latest records without exporting data.
Enhanced UX
Aligns with standard expectations from pagination in modern applications.
Cost Saving
• Time saved per user/year: 5 mins/day × 220 days = 1,100 minutes = 18.3 hours
• Cost per user/year: 18.3 hours × $60/hour = $1,098
• Total users: 950
• Total annual savings = 950 × $1,098 = $1,043,100
Ask to Microsoft: Enable the "Last Page" or "Last Record" pagination feature in Views, Subgrid and Audit history within Dynamics CRM to help users navigate through records more efficiently.
