There are situations where it is very handy to consume inventory for departments and book it directly onto a cost account.

I know there are gen. product posting group and if the GL account is not filled in (by default), the gen. product posting group should be used. If the GL account is filled in, this should overrule the gen. product posting group.


However sometimes you need to consume inventory for non-production orders. Examples are items such as tools, gloves, items used for marketing/sales purposes. In that case you want that these costs can be posted directly to a GL account.

Creating a gen. product posting group for each of these situations is a bit cumbersome.


In other ERP situations this is normal functionality.
