In relation to customer consignment, I would prefer to look at a "locations" within a "single warehouse" to manage consignment inventory, in this way, little configuration is requires to maanage what should be a day to day task of organising vendor invoices, sales and replenishment orders.
Perhaps assign to the customer address record and given that multiple customer addresses may maintain the inventory, the location could be assigned to the delivery address level, 1 per delivery address.
This then allows for stock counts and reconciliation

This is such a great suggestion.
Should be part of any ERP as big as D365FO.
Had to customize this in AX2012 for a very nice customer, hopefully, I will not have to do this again when this latter migrates...
