It will be a much more engaging experience for the user if we show them notifications via the standard bell and count mechanism used by many enterprise apps and most social apps. Administrators will be able to define when to raise a notification. Reminders for overdue tasks and opportunities, notifications about inbound customer service calls and deal wins would be nice to see as notifications. Read notifications will stay in the list but the counter will be reduced. The feature would work the same way in browser or app. The notifications themselves can point to specific records or posts.

This feature technically does exist now, it's just up to the users to manually configure it to their liking. It would be nice at the very least if Microsoft would program tags, or maybe even follow events, to work with notification out of the box. I never really understood the purpose of both of these features, tags and follow, because neither one notifies you. So, this would be a great way of improving those features.
