Power Pages currently does not provide a platform-level auto-save capability for Basic Forms (Dataverse Forms), unlike model-driven apps which support periodic background auto-save (e.g., every 30 seconds).
In Power Pages:
- Data has persisted only on explicit form submission
- Partial user input is lost if the page is refreshed, navigated away from, or the browser session ends
- There is no built-in support for draft saving, background persistence, or resume capability
- Dataverse table auto-save behavior does not reliably apply to Power Pages scenarios
This limitation creates usability and data-loss risks for:
- Long forms
- External users
- Citizen-facing portals
- Scenarios with intermittent connectivity
Requested Enhancement
Introduce a platform-level auto-save option for Power Pages Basic Forms, similar to model-driven apps, with characteristics such as:
- Configurable auto-save interval
- Draft record creation and update
- Resume-incomplete-form support
- No requirement for custom JavaScript or Web API implementation
This would significantly reduce custom development, improve user experience, and align Power Pages behavior with other Dataverse-based applications.
