When a specific lot is assigned an Expiration date -- lets say 12/31/2018, assuming there is still some inventory on hand by 01/01/2019 the portion remaining should be automatically moved to QUARANTINE status. (e.g. the Inventory should no longer be available), until QA determines whether the expiration might be extended, at which time the expiration date can be changed, and the inventory released again for consumption.
