I configured a finished product with Product configuration model on a sales order line. This item had multiple BOM levels (composed by semifinished product, composed itself by other items). On the sales line, in Line details FastTab> tab Product, "sub-BOM" field is correctly populated for the finished product, but navigating View details, there is not the same behavior for the semifinished product's sub-BOM. For the semifinished product, which has its own configurable sub-BOM, "sub-BOM or formula" field is empty and it is necessary to manually select the related sub-BOM from the lookup. This behavior happens at each sub-level, except the first.

I would like the fields to be automatically populated.

Thank you for your feedback. We are not considering the suggestion at this time due to the following reason:

The "sub-BOM" and "sub-Route" fields on the sales order line are populated by the Product Configurator mainly for backward compatibility for customers that was migrating from the now discontinued Product Builder feature.

The purpose of the "sub-BOM" and "sub-Route" fields on the BOM line are to enable users to override the active BOM and Route and specify an alternative BOM or Route for a specific BOM line. These fields should not be populated when the active BOM and Route is used.

In case of the Product Configurator, there will always be a one-to-one relationship between a configurable item and the generated BOM and Route, which is modeled through an active BOM version and Route version. Hence the "sub-BOM" and "sub-Route" fields on BOM lines representing sub-assemblies are not populated.
