The benefit by using the “Open in new window” is largely destroyed because the any filter and sort order defined in the new popout window is cleared each time the row is changed in the original form.

When the “Open in new window” function is used on a detail transaction form opened from a master table form, the popup window is showing the same rows as before it was opened in a new window (any filter or sort order are preserved). But when a new row is selected in the master data form, any filter and sort order setup by the user in the popup form is cleared before data are loaded. This is also the case with personalized views defined by the user in the popup form.

The user needs to redo the filter and sort order setting each time a new row is selected in the master data form.

It will make the “Open in new window” function more useful, if the filter and sort order setting on the popup form was preserved when the user is browsing thru the master data form.
