In AX2012 we used to have a super cool way how the different hierarchies in the system were visualized. It was a dynamic visualization, with curved lines between the nodes of the hierarchy and a super cool way of showing a changing view when for instance you clicked to go a level lower.
Nowadays, the visualisation is very poor, actually pretty useless. The view does not really show a hierarchy, but just several disconnected blocks, and it is not dynamic anymore.
Please find a way to return to the old way of visualizing hierachies.

It's true. It's pretty ugly to set a complicated Hierarchy in D365FO. It represents a fallback confront to AX2012R3.

I totally agree. the form does not use the available "real estate" either. Let's say your department has 4 child departments, the diagram will first show you 1. You need to click "next" to see the other 3. While basically it has space for 5.

Moreover, it does not support searching for a department either.
