Configuration group functionality is great for top-down variant matching on BOM's but is only available for ConfigId. There is no Retail dimension group for configuration so in our company where many products have standard dimension values (Red, Green, Blue) this functionality cannot be paired with, for example, Color groups. In situations where color items contain color raw materials there is no option aside from creating several BOM's.
