When entering a non-existing “Item No.” in the field “No.”, the following message appears:

This item is not registered. To continue, choose one of the following options:
Create a new item card for XXXX.
Select an existing item.

This functionality cannot be enabled/disabled by (de-)selecting the option in the “Sales & Receivables Setup”
We can do it if speak about “Description” via Sales & Receivables Setup \ Create Item from Description but do not have such type of option for “No.”
In some cases functionality has been felt unwanted from the customer perspective..

1) When you start typing item number on sales order lines, a filtering is made via the page item list and all code and fields added to this page are executed. added fields and functionalities make this filtering slow.

2) If the user enters an item number that does not exist, the function is activated while asking whether this should be created. if this dialog answers "No" a Wildcard search is made. On customers with more than "Demodata" this means that NAV freezes and comes back to life only after some time.

Customers with 40k + item number, if we have turned off these features, it was not possible that this was a choice that could have been made in the sales setup table

it may be a nice solution on Demodata - but in real life it slow
