There are workarounds as option but prefernce is to have something out of the box.

When you work with opportunity it would be useful to see number of active quotes next to "Quote tab" or somewhere else. This gives immediate info if there is active quote or not. Annoying when there is and firs toy try to close Opportunity and then active quote error pops in.

CRM is there to improve business and efficiency, so everything should support this purpose.

Less clicks, better data overview. Time is money as they said.
