When dealing with inventory management in Business Central (BC), the “Undo Shipment” function plays a crucial role. However, there’s a limitation: if you have specific settings on the location card (such as “Require Pick=Yes,” “Bin Mandatory=Yes,” and “Require Shipment=No”), you’ll encounter an issue when trying to undo a shipment from a posted sales shipment. The system displays the message: “You cannot undo line Xxxxx because inventory pick lines have already been posted.”
Now, here’s the proposal for improvement: Why not enhance the “Undo Shipment” functionality to consider to reverse the Posted Invt. Pick at the same time.
(«We» have all the information we need on the Posted Invt. Pick, as the Bine Code, date, etc.)
By doing so, when reversing a posted inventory pick, the system would also reverse the corresponding posted inventory pick lines. This change would streamline the process and provide a more intuitive experience for users. Additionally, it ensures that all relevant information from the Posted Inventory Pick is taken into account.
Implementing this enhancement would be a positive step, especially when mistakes occur. It aligns with the goal of creating a smoother workflow for BC users. 😊
Comments
It doesn't happen extremely often, but when it does it is a pain to undo the shipment as it involves so many more steps than seems necessary. Allowing this functionality would greatly improve workflow for BC users.

For users with this level of warehousing, if they realise there's an issue after shipping and before invoicing, they have to raise the invoice, followed either by a full return and re-order (so the customer gets a 'clean' invoice), or a return for the 'wrong' line, and send the customer an invoice they know is wrong, along with a credit. This, and the admin time that goes with it, could be avoided by allowing the shipment line to be undone.
