I would like to reserve inventory from Blanket Sales Order so that the inventory can not be used elsewhere
to process an order whose details are unconfirmed.
Also, take over the reservation when creating the Sales Order.

ex)
Blanket Sales Order
Qty:100
Qty Reserved:100
Qty Shipped/Invoiced:0
Qty to Ship:40

After creating the Saels Order and posting...

Blanket Sales Order
Qty:100
Qty Reserved:60
Qty Shipped/Invoiced:40
Qty to Ship:0

Sales Order(Posted Salse Shipment/Invoice)
Qty:40
Qty Reserved:40

We have a client in apparel where this would be incredibly useful (Blanket SOs are common in apparel) Since they can't reserve against blankets, they have to create the SO well ahead of time causing issues with partial shipment on credit card orders, or multiple SOs shipping on the same Warehouse Shipment which required a lot of customization to then consolidate the sales invoices at the shipment level.

This is not the first time I had a project with similar requirement and finally, we need to customize the sales order with special order type to stimlate the function of blanket order to release normal sales order. The point is, some business has very high level of customer committment on stock when a sales contract signed.Another case is, if you are a supplier for certain online / eCommerce channel, the contract between them is very rigid. If there is any order placed through online channel but you can't fulfill it, you would be downgraded and punished. So, in such cases, we always need to reserve certain level of stock for certain customer, however, the actual sales order is not yet created (we may need to match the Online order number with our SO, so can't create an open sales order with multiple delivery / invoice for this purpose).

This would help us immensely. We have large projects where the "call-off" date is unconfirmed but the stock is required to be reserved against it.

We had this requirment come up recently at a project of ours. It would be great to get some more votes for consideration :)

whats the point of promising stock, if we can't guarantee it by reservation.
Also, MRP must take into account long-term Blanket orders/Trade agreements
