In Dynamics 365 Project Operations and Dynamics 365 Finance, the Project Manager is a core attribute used throughout project delivery, reporting, accountability, and steering.
However, two limitations currently prevent organizations from fully leveraging this key information:
1. The Project Manager field cannot be synchronized via Dual‑Write
Although Dual‑Write aligns most project‑related data between Dataverse and Finance, the Project Manager is not included in the standard mappings.
This creates a disconnect between the project entity in Dataverse (Project Operations) and the project record in Finance, where the Project Manager is expected to support downstream processes such as revenue recognition, financial monitoring, and compliance.
2. Finance cannot natively filter the Revenue Recognition workspace by Project Manager
In the Revenue Recognition module of D365 Finance, users need to filter the list of projects and revenue recognition data by Project Manager — a common operational scenario.
Yet this field is not available as a native filter, making it harder for project controllers, finance teams, and managers to monitor their portfolio efficiently.
As a result:
- The Project Manager is not consistently propagated across applications.
- Financial reporting and revenue recognition monitoring cannot be aligned with operational responsibility.
- Organizations must rely on customizations or external reporting tools to bridge the gap.
Request
A. Extend Dual‑Write standard mappings
Add the Project Manager field to the standard Dual‑Write packages (Project / Project V2 entities) so that the value is synchronized automatically from Dataverse to Finance.
B. Enhance the Finance UI
Expose the Project Manager as a native, selectable filter in the Revenue Recognition workspace, enabling users to:
- filter their project list by Project Manager,
- review revenue recognition status per manager,
- streamline financial steering aligned with operational ownership.
