MS recently deprecated the report layout for different countries on the Sales tax authorities page in D365FO.
Therefore, in the General Ledger Parameters\Sales Tax you have to define the electronic reporting format, usually xml OR excel.
Process wise, the user needs both. The excel is needed to check the data as it is readable compared to the xml file. The xml on the other hand is necessary to upload it to the tax authorities.
My request\idea is to make it available for the user to switch between the xml and excel format when the "Report sales tax for settlement period" is run.
