According to the Planning Optimization fit analysis documentation at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/master-planning/planning-optimization/planning-optimization-fit-analysis#overview-of-possible-results-from-the-fit-analysis, there are 20+ Planning Optimization features that won't be generally available until October 2022! (Mostly Production/MRP-related features) Customers who were preparing for such features to be available by the end of 2021, as per Microsoft's original feature roadmap, are now left in a difficult situation, and some, like us, won't be able to benefit from Planning Optimization at all until all of the features are generally available.

This is because Planning Optimization is an all or nothing proposition - it is either on and all master plans will use the service, or it's off and you can't use it at all.

We have a mixture of master plans, some for Production, but others for Distribution purposes only. Although we would like to benefit now from the speed of Planning Optimization for the Distribution plans, we are faced with having to wait another year before we can turn it on, until all our Production, subcontracting scenarios, etc. are supported.

If at all possible, please could Microsoft help us out by providing a way for Planning Optimization to be implemented on a plan-by-plan basis - i.e. so that we can turn it on and use it for plans relating to Distribution scenarios, but leave Production-related plans to continue running with the existing planning engine.

Many thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. Enabling control of planning engines per plan will not be possible without a larger redesign of core parts of both engines. Our current focus is to add additional capabilities to Planning Optimization to enabling additional customers to onboard. Hence, this is currently this is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future.

Sincerely,
