Beginning in tax year 2020, IRS 1099 "Box 7" no longer exists on IRS form 1099. The U.S. government has discontinued the use of this box. For 2020 (and beyond), this box has been replaced by IRS 1099 "NEC-01". Of course, this box exists to show compensation to non-W2 workers.

In the one company where we were successfully able to download the new "Form Boxes", none of the formerly "Box-7" vendors' "IRS 1099 Code" fields were updated to "NEC-01" (in the Vendor page). Also, none of the Posted Purchase Invoices, Purchase Invoices or Purchase Orders had the "IRS 1099 Code" updated to show "NEC-01". Instead, the value in the "IRS 1099 Code" field simply disappeared.

This makes it impossible to print accurate 1099's from within BC for tax year 2020. It also means that all "NEC-01" 1099 vendors and open documents have to be manually updated to accurately track "NEC-01" Non-employee Compensation for tax year 2021 and beyond.

Considering that "Box-7" no longer exists, I believe you should put an action in the "1099 Form Boxes" action bar that will allow users to update the "IRS 1099 Code" on all applicable pages from "Box-7" to "NEC-01" within Business Central.
