Currently, when a Knowledge Article in Dynamics 365 is released as a new version, a new version‑specific URL is generated. If this URL is referenced in other documents, emails, or systems, those references continue to point to the older version and do not open the latest active article.
This creates challenges for users because:
- Dependent documents become outdated over time
- Users unknowingly access obsolete content
- Extra effort is required to search for the latest version manually
Proposed enhancement:
Introduce an option to copy a root or canonical URL for Knowledge Articles that always redirects to the latest active version of that article.
Benefits:
- Ensures users always land on the correct, active article
- Reduces confusion and outdated references
- Improves knowledge reuse across documents and systems
- Saves time spent searching for newer versions
This feature would significantly enhance knowledge management efficiency and improve user experience across Dynamics 365.
