For the current Version 8.1.3, the "Product lifecycle state" on the product has a very limited functionality. (Set as Default Value when released to a legal entity, and/or influence the planning for this product. That`s it.) We would need more possibilities respectively restrictions due to the Product lifecycle state. For example:

  • "End of life" - so the product is only orderable till a specific date;

  • "Discontinued" - no longer manufactured or procured, limited stock available;

  • "Prototype" - blocked for adding product into BOMs, and so on...

Even though we can set restrictions manually within other forms on the product, the Product lifecycle state lends itself to develop much more functionality and restrictions due to his definition.

We're happy to announce that we have expanded the "Product lifecycle state" functionality. Enable  Engineering Change Management to leverage these capabilities. You will be able for each lifecycle state, to define the business processes that should be enabled, enabled with warning or blocked.

Sincerely,

When terminating an item, it should be removed or expired in any BOM lines it figures in. It would be great to have this embedded in the Product life cycle state functionality.

Essential.
Would be ideal for this to work in conjunction with the Default Order Settings (Locked functions) by Site.
Need Date Activation (I.e. Prod A, Site X, Status = "Active" on dd/mm/yy - automate unlocking of Default Order Settings to all Unlocked based on the "Active" Status on the nominated Date).

+ Vote from retail business with 700+ physical stores

The product lifecycle status should govern what stores are able to do with the product i.e. LOCKED cannot be ordered) and determine whether demand forecasting is automatically created or forced (usually forced for new lines). It is imperative that the status codes / lifecycle can be set in advance with specific dates assigned to specific statuses. i.e. On / Off Supply by date). Our supply chain systems will need a future view of product status codes along with the proposed dates for planning purposes i.e. Product Z will be Active for Sale on dd / mm / yyyy).
