Description:

When making a call from the Dynamics 365 dialer while working in a lead or contact record, the dialer correctly shows the record as "Connected to" during the call. However, once the call ends and the Phone Call activity is created, the attendee in the Conversation Intelligence call summary is not automatically populated — the associated lead or contact must be manually re-added to the Attendees field on the activity record.

Expected Behavior:

If the dialer has already resolved and displayed the connected record (lead, contact, etc.) at the time of the call, that record should automatically carry over as an attendee on the resulting Phone Call activity. No manual re-entry should be required.

Business Impact:

This creates unnecessary friction for sales teams making high volumes of outbound calls. Each missed auto-link means reps must open the Phone Call activity and manually associate the record — adding repetitive steps that slow workflow and increase the risk of activities being left unlinked, which degrades reporting accuracy and relationship history.

Suggested Fix:

When a call is initiated from or connected to a CRM record in the dialer, persist that association to the Attendees field on the Phone Call activity upon call completion. The data is already present during the call — it simply needs to be written to the activity record automatically.

I previously tried connecting with Microsoft Support on this, initially thinking it was a bug, but they got back to me saying their background team thinks this might be by design, which makes NO SENSE!
