Description:

In locations using Directed Put‑away and Pick with FEFO enabled, the current warehouse pick calculation distributes pick quantities across multiple bins when several bins meet the same expiration criteria.

However, the system does not evaluate whether a single bin can fulfill the required pick quantity before splitting the pick across multiple bins.

This can result in: Increased bin switching during picking; Longer execution time; Reduced warehouse productivity

Proposed Enhancement

Introduce an additional Pick Policy option: Minimize Number of Bins per Pick

When selected:

1. After FEFO determines eligible lot/serial candidates

2. The system evaluates available quantity per bin

3. Prioritizes bins that can fulfill the full required quantity

4. Only splits the pick across multiple bins when necessary

Business Impact

This would allow warehouse operations to reduce bin switching, simplify pick instructions, improve labor efficiency.

Currently, achieving this outcome requires manual stock consolidation or customization of the Create Pick logic.

We would greatly appreciate it if Microsoft could consider enhancing the warehouse management pick creation process to follow a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) approach based on the Entry No. from Warehouse Entries

Will looking forward for this new policy as needed.

Adding support for this enhancement. In FEFO-enabled warehouses using Directed Put-away and Pick, distributing a single pick across multiple bins—when one bin could have fulfilled the full quantity—creates unnecessary bin switching and slows down picking operations.A configurable “Minimize Number of Bins per Pick” policy would significantly improve picker efficiency by prioritizing single-bin fulfillment after FEFO selection, only splitting when truly required. This would reduce execution time, simplify pick instructions, and improve overall warehouse productivity, especially in high-volume operations. Today, achieving this requires manual consolidation or custom logic, which is not ideal.
