The Jobs entity in Business Central is wrongly named. This is a legacy issue that has been carried over for more than 30 years. The Jobs module was originally created for auditor companies. Their employees worked on "cases," so the original danish word became "Sag" (directly translated to "Case"). When PC&C created the first English translation, it got translated to "Job", this was part of a version with other strange translations (See here: https://youtu.be/JGlUgR47CLo )

Since then, we have had to explain to every single customer asking for a Project Accounting Module that we have that, it's just named funny.

Quite often, we end up renaming the entities from Job to Project, Job Task to Project Task and so on as a customer customization. Simply because it's truly the wrong word.

To avoid breaking many things, the submitted Idea is to "rename" the captions and documentation, not actually renaming table and field names.

A job sounds like a workorder of services and incidents. Project is the right naming convention.

Yes, project is right word for this part of BC. We are civil engineering company and our employees looking at me strange when I say we are going to use Jobs for our Projects.

Please rename it to align BC with other Microsoft solutions. MS Project calls projects "projects" and not jobs, right? Everytime I present I have to explain that projects in BC are named Jobs. This is confusing for prospects!

Yes please make it Project instead of Job.

You already made the change in this forum for new Ideas, but that just makes the confusion complete.

In danish we can in the system (and in documentation) finde a project named as Sag, Job, Projekt, Project and even Stilling.

Stilling is in danish also called job, but in that context it has nothing to do with a project, so the translations makes it compleately confusing to read documentation. All because Job is bad ambigious term.

Same here - always have to do the explanation dance and shrug it off as an eccentricity :-)

I am sure this change will be a very good selling point, when we show the Jobs to the customers they got afraid, a lot of customers skipped to use jobs.

I am dreaming to have more clarity & functionality also being a full project management module within BC.

Yes please make it Project instead of Job! It is very confusing and all of our partners must translate it.
