When you set up a user sync Dynamics 365 Appointments, Contacts and Tasks with Outlook using Server Side Sync, the Outlook filters to decide what gets synced don't create for that user until the sync set up is complete. Therefore, if the user is in Dynamics already and has, say, Contacts assigned to them as the owner, but they don't want to those contacts to sync through to Outlook, there is no time to disable the filters, before the Contacts sync to the user's Outlook.
There should be a way of setting up all the sync parameters for the user's emails, appointments, tasks and contacts and THEN setting the sync to start.

I agree. The fact that this is set to on by default has the potential to cause a GSDR nightmare for organizations.

I think it should be off by default and allow people to switch it on when they understand the risks and decide to.
